Les Petites Misères opératiques

Two sisters, a night of partying, a few love stories… and the whole of opera to tell them.

Six in the morning. The party is over, the mascara has run, and two sisters go over the night again. One is mourning a lost love; the other, clearly, did not waste her night. Between confidences, jibes and old scores to settle, they piece together their romantic adventures. There is just one thing: in their family, emotions are not told. They are sung.

A dress, a prop, three notes on the piano, and in turn they become seductresses, lovers, rivals or abandoned women. Carmen, Violetta, Marguerite, Musetta and the heroines of Mozart and Offenbach crash their morning after, while a few nods to French chanson instantly win over the audience.

But play long enough and the game catches up with you. Beneath the squabbling, wounds surface; beneath the closeness, rivalry. And in telling each other their love stories, the two women end up putting to the test a story that has lasted forever: their own.
