Morgane

For nine centuries, others have told her story. This time, Morgan le Fay speaks for herself.

Morgan le Fay is one of the most famous female figures of Arthurian legend. Yet her face has kept changing over the centuries: healer, sister, lover, enchantress, rebel, enemy, witch. What remains of a woman when, for nine centuries, others have told her story?

Alone before the audience, Morgan takes back the thread of the story. She has not come to ask forgiveness, nor to plead her innocence. She tells: her knowledge, her desires, her wounds, her anger, her faults, her power. And she questions how a powerful woman gradually becomes, in the collective imagination, a dangerous one.

A show that is both intimate and spectacular, in which the operatic voice, theatre and illusion answer one another, from Hildegard of Bingen to Massenet, from Handel to Rimsky-Korsakov.

“I have not come to prove to you that I am innocent. I have come to take back my story.”
