The love story between a cello-playing automaton locked in a birdcage and a young girl with an angelic voice.
Gluttony, sloth, envy, wrath, lust, pride, greed: set to music, told, acted, painted or sculpted, the deadly sins are an inexhaustible source of inspiration. How can they be reinvented?
Combining their arts, Jérémy Genet, Jean-Luc Borras and Laura Baudelet present a musical and poetic fable: discovered in a mysterious room, hidden behind immense curtains, a cello-playing automaton meets a young girl who passes through the seven sins, grows up and experiences the torments of the human condition.
A tale heightened by excerpts from Bizet, Pergolesi, Saint-Saëns, Kurt Weill, Massenet, Mozart, Yvain and Bach, as well as Baudelaire, Rostand and Topor.
“I instantly fell in love with the warm sound of Jérémy's cello. This show is the culmination of two and a half years of work, research and experimentation.”
